Mahama Tailoring Empowerment Project (M-TEP)
Equipping vulnerable youth and women in Mahama Refugee Camp, Rwanda, with tailoring skills to build sustainable livelihoods.
The Problem
Youth and women in Mahama Refugee Camp face limited access to vocational skills and sustainable income opportunities, increasing economic vulnerability in displacement settings.
The Solution
Designed and implemented the Mahama Tailoring Empowerment Project (M-TEP), providing tailoring skills training, sewing machines, and mentorship to equip participants with sustainable livelihoods.
Implementation
Led project planning, participant selection, procurement of equipment, training coordination, and ongoing mentorship, enabling participants to develop practical tailoring skills and generate income.
Lessons & Future Plans: The project reinforced that sustainable empowerment requires both technical training and market linkage. Future plans include connecting graduates to micro-enterprise financing and expanding the cohort size.
